Gift Ban
Chapter 10A prohibits
most gifts to legislators, legislative staff, constitutional officers
and other defined public officials given or requested by lobbyists
or lobbyist principals. With minor exceptions, the prohibition includes
the giving and the acceptance of money, real or personal property,
services, loan, promises of future employment, meals, entertainment,
and honoraria.
The Board has
issued numerous opinions on the interpretation of the gift ban. The
opinions are compiled in the Guide to Interpretation of Minnesota
Statutes 10A.071, which is updated monthly.
